Omata Estate Winery in Russell, Northland.
Aly and Brett, the Kiwi and the Canadian, came to marry in NZ…all the way from their super yacht lifestyle in Italy.
Me, armed to the gunnels with umbrella’s was to be honest a little dubious about how this all outdoor wedding would unfold in such dire weather. The rain was set in and rather relentless and Omata Estate although a beautiful location was a little stretched for shelter from the rain.
But….this awesome couple, Aly and Brett, were so relaxed and the rain didn’t appear to phase them in the least, their ceremony took place under the eaves of the grape vines, surrounded by all their guests huddling from the drizzle. This has to be one of the most memorable ceremonies … when with a pause midway through the ring passing… the best man announced both rings had slid out of the book they were hidden in and had fallen out onto the gravel driveway..in the rain!!! With a few gasps, some nervous giggles and a wee bit of hunting around both rings were returned to Aly and Brett and the ceremony continued without further ado!
Our creative bridal portraits were just as memorable, we all got wet, so so so wet. No amount of umbrellas, rain coats, towels and plastic shower caps could protect the gear from the rain! But Aly and brett you braved the rain with huge smiles and you even said you wouldn’t have changed the weather if you could! Aly and Brett all I can say is you guys were EPIC in that rain … Thanks for sharing your wonderful wedding day with me x
