The ĀKAU design team developed this concept into the Paddle Stool, taking the conceptual hoe form and combining curves with straight edges to produce a unique design. The Paddle Stool is constructed with traditional woodworking joints that are cut using CNC technology and fitted together by hand without the use of screws or nails. The plywood is manufactured in New Zealand using locally grown radiata pine and the stools are manufactured locally, in keeping with the ĀKAU kaupapa.
