THE PERSON BEHIND THE LENS

 

This is the part where I’m supposed to tell you all about myself… and honestly, I’ve never really known where to start.

I live in the far north, just a few minutes from the beach, and I can’t imagine calling anywhere else home. I love travelling, I’m partial to a good coffee (and probably more Whittaker’s than I should admit to), and if I’m not working there’s a fair chance I’m out walking the dogs or planning the next trip away.

Photography has taken me to some incredible places over the years, and I don’t think that sense of adventure has ever left me. I still get excited booking a flight somewhere new, but I’m just as happy taking the long way home if it means discovering a beach or little back road I’ve never seen before.

 

Before weddings, I spent years photographing white water rafting and equestrian show jumping. 

Looking back, I don’t think I ever really chose photography. It just quietly became part of who I am, and now with my kids all grown up, I get to spend my weekends doing something I am truly passionate about and turning moments in to memories

I still can’t quite believe I get to call this work. It’s introduced me to some incredible people, taken me to places I never imagined I’d end up, and given me plenty of stories along the way.

I’m happiest when life feels a little unplanned. A road trip with no real itinerary. Fish and chips on the beach. Good coffee. A wild west coast sunset.

One day these photographs won't just remind you what everyone looked like. They'll remind you what it felt like to be together

Perfection! This simple word describes the not so simple task Jess had when photographing our wedding - being one of the last for the season due to covid-19. It came right down to the wire but once we had the okay there was no stopping us from going through with things and we got to have our dream day as planned on the 20.03.20.
